WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY
TESTS IN SECTIONAL WORK As the year's training classes of the Women's War Service Auxiliary are nearing completion, tests have been made in the various sections. Eighteen more members of the field unit have passed an examination in anti-gas training and several members of the original class have had further training and are themselves now ready to give lectures. A party of signallers visited Avondale Camp recently to sit for their ! signals test. Nine members passed their second-year examination and 30 their first-year efficiency test. These signallers, together with the cyclist and field unit, took part in the Home Guard manoeuvres last Sunday. Before Christmas an effort is to be made by all sections to collect waste paper in response to the Patriotic Council's appeal. Small quantities of paper are left at the headquarters of the auxiliary, while larger quantities go direct to the depot at 55 Customs Street. Many members of the auxiliary have been called on for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, not only at Hobsonville, but also at southern stations. The transport ranks are well depleted, but the training received through the auxiliary has helped the girls when starting on their transport work in the W.A.A.F. Next year further classes in mechanics and other aspects of wartime transport work will bo started for other members. During the past three weeks the auxiliary has undertaken the collecting of funds at the exhibition of photographs of bombed London at the Art Gallery.
