RESCUE FROM RIVER

DOCTOR SAVES BOY (0.C.) "WAIROA, Thursday By plunging into the Wairoa River, Dr. E. B. Jardine saved the son of Dr. L. A. Riddell, medical superintendent of the Wairoa Hospital. Dr. Riddell's two boys, Julian and Peter, were battling when Peter got out of his depth and was swept out by a strong current. His brother rushed to Dr. Jardine's house near by. Dr. Jardine stripped and plunged into the water. The boy was rapidly nearing exhaustion and every now and then his head sank below the surface of the water. Eventually Dr. Jardino reached him and brought him to the shore, where he was treated and soon recovered.
