Ost 101b, tlie Australian light-weight champion, in a polished display, outclassed the Filipino boxer Young Gildo, Ost 81b, at the Rushcutter Bay Stadium last Monday night. In a contest set down for 12 rounds, the referee stopped the engagement after two minutes of the seventh round. Gildo failed to escape from Patrick's leads. He guarded well against Patrick's body blows, but was helpless against the Australians right jabs and uppercuts. In every round Gildo's hands were uplifted in defence against Patrick's leads, but Patrick's swiftly directed rights passed through them. After Gildo's right eye was gashed during the sixth round, the referee questioned him during the interval, but Gildo decided to continue. He was showing signs of much punishment received when the referee intervened in the seventh round.
