GOVERNMENT'S PLANS
A statement that a scheme "costing millions" was envisaged by a Government committee discussing rehabilitation after the war was made by Mr. W T \nderton. Government member for Eden In an Address in his electorate last night. Mr. R. F. Barter president of the Eden branch of the Labour Party, presided over an attendance of 30 ' . Hopes for a further increase m the age benefits were held by the speaker, who referred to th© difficulties elderly people were facing with high rents and increased cost of living. The meeting passed a vote of thanks and confidence in the Government and the speaker and expressed its appreciation of the speaker's work in the interests of the electorate.
