HOUSE DESTROYED

FIRE AT GLEN EDEN A residence of seven rooms in Archibald Road, Glen Eden, occupied by Mr. F. Clive Ellis, solicitor, was burned to tho ground yesterday afternoon. Although there is a supply for domestic use, no water was available in the locality for fire-fighting purposes and the fire brigade could do nothing. Accompanied by two of her four children, Mrs. Ellis was out visiting at the time. The two other children had returned home from school and were playing in a near by paddock when they were attracted by a glare in one of the windows and saw smoke issuing from the house. They informed a neighbour, Mrs. J. E. Newcombe, who telephoned the Avondale fire station.

When the brigade arrived the house was enveloped in flames and nothing could be saved. The building, which was over 12 years old, burned for nearly an hour.
