CANADIAN WRESTLER
KATAN TO MEET BLOMFIELD The Empire title rivalry which was a feature of last season's wrestling is recalled by the match which is to be staged at the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday night between Lofty Ulomfield and John Katan, of Canada. Blomfield' and Katan, who shared with McCready in the three-cornered tussling for the championship, showed 1 that they are rigiit up to the level of the ILmplre s best, and for concentrated thrille and solid grappling the matches in which they figured, rank highly among the memorable clashes in the history of the sport in this country. Katan has been having such a successful season in Australia that it was hard to get him released for Now Zealand. Together with strength and toughness, he has remarkable all-round skill and is a fast and aggressive worker whom ordinary methods cannot check. Following are the amateur preliminaries:—L. Hawkins v. W. Williamson; J. fiissons v. J. Vuinac; B. Sigley v. C. Hammond; J. Wright v. D. Harding.
