WATER FOR DEVONPORT
CITY SUPPLY DELAYED A statement that at present there did not seem any chance of Devonport being provided with city water before the end of January at least was made by the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. It. G. May, at a meeting of the Devonport Borough Council last night. Previously it had been expected that city water would be available by Christmas, but in view of the shortage of necessary materials this would not be possible. The quality of Lake Pupuke water at present has improved, Mr. May said. No complaint has been received during the past month. Since June of last year the level of the lake has risen 14in., which represents an increase of 16,000,0000 gallons in the volume of the water.
