GRAMMAR OLD GIRLS
FETE FOR WELFARE WORK Past and present pupils of the Auckland Girls' Grammar School and their parents and friends attended the annual garden fete organised by the Old Girls' Association in the school grounds yesterday afternoon. The headmistress, Miss E. M. Johnston, assisted by Mrs. J. Pool, president of the Old Girls' Association, welcomed the guests. Interesting features of the fete were a mannequin parade* organised by Miss E. Kibblewhite, in which were seen dresses made by the pupils; a garden club display by ."WO pupils under the direction of Miss L. Slieat and Miss R. Allum; and a programme of drill and dancing organised lry Miss R. Gurr. A number of stalls containing competitive display of sweets and cakes made by the pupils, and novelties made of material costing not more than Is, were judged by Mrs. L. S. Rickerby, Mrs. Layers and Miss B. Lund. The proceeds of the fete are to be used for the social welfare work of the Old Girls' Association in the citv.
