BOY SCOUT WEEK

FEBRUARY CAMPAIGN ADDRESS TO ROTARY CLUB The ideals and -objects of the Boy Scout movement, and particularly its plans for a Boy Scout week throughout the Dominion next February, were put before the Auckland Eotary Club at its luncheon yesterday by Mr. J. ,J. Cormink, honorary organiser of the campaign. One of its main objects, he said was to secure through public demonstrations the enrolment of 2000 new scouters and helpers and of 30,000 new scouts, cubs and nn-ers.

The three*- days on which the public appeal would be made, Mr. Cormiek said, were Friday, February 20, and the two succeeding days. Friday would be devoted to service and; citizenship, Saturday would be'■ birthday and fun dav and Sunday memorial and dedication day. By direction of the Dominion Chief Scout, .the Governor-General, Sir Cvril Newall, there would be no' collecting associated with the street processions In expressing the thanks of the club to Mr Cormiek, Mr. S. J. Harbutt said the Rotary motxraent was rWit behind the Boy Scouts, and when the time came for action the Auckland Club would do all in its power to assist, Sympathy was expressed with Mr .T. Stanton in the death of his brother Welcomes were extended by the den£ Mr. A G. Poison,* to Messrs. ; °J Dunedin, G. K. Hansard, of Wellington, and R. Sands, of Whanearei. visiting Botarians, and to the following other visitors:—Sir .Joseph Smith, president of the Auckland Bov Scouts' Council, Captain M. Lodeeserl captain of the California Clipper Mr 9' w M or r!' of Christchurch, and Mr! \. H. McDonnell, of Helensrille was announced that Mr. P.-J. Williams, the club's honorarv treasurer* had been called up for service for the duration of the war. He was appointed an honorary member of the club while absent, and Mr. G. Hartshorn was made honorary treasurer in his place.
