BULLER GORGE RAILWAY

COMPLETION CEREMONY [by telegraph—press association] WESTPORT, Monday Arrangements were completed to-day for the ceremony on Tuesday of next week of driving the last spike in the Buller Gorge railway, completing the connection between Westport and Reefton, thence joining with the main railway system of the South Island. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Eraser, and the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. H. 1\ Armstrong, will arrive by aeroplane for the ceremony in the morning, leaving on the return in the afternoon. The Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, and the Minister of Railways, the Hon. R. Semplo, will arrive earlier and deliver public addresses on Monday evening. About 250 people are expected to go by train from Reefton and members of local bodies on the West Coast and other representative people will also be present in large numbers.
