TRUSTS ATTACKED

NEW SOUTH WALES EVIL DRASTIC MEASURE PLANNED (Reed. 11.38 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 'J2 "I am amazed and staggered at the extent of the control exercised over the economic life of this State by monopolies, trusts, combined cartels, trade associations and so-called gentlemen's agreements, and 1 intend to bring down one of the most effective and drastic measures ever introduced in Parliament to cope with the evil," said the New South Wales Attorney-Gen-eral, Mr. C. E. Martin, in an address to the Australian Natives Association to-dav. Mr. M artin declared there was rampant and unscrupulous manipulation of the markets, the Stock Exchange, and foodstuffs by a "fifth estate" that was exercising powerful influences over every institution, Parliamentary or otherwise, and said that no previous Government had had the courage to tackle its depredations.
