DONATIONS TO STOP
DRAINAGE BOARD DECISION The view that it was not the business of the board to make contributions out of its funds to charitable and social organisations was expressed at a meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board yesterday, when applications for donations were received from the Auckland Orphanages United Council and the Workers' Educational Association. These were declined, and it was decided by a majority vote that as a matter of future policy all such similar requests would be declined. Mrs. M. M. Drcaver, M.P., and Captain R. S. Judson, V.C., asked that their opposition to the decision be recorded.
