Pilot-Officer Robertson is the eldest son of Captain and Mrs, W. B. Robertson, of 494 Remuera Road. He was educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College and prior to enlistment in the Air Force was in charge of the transmitter at station 3YA, Christchurch. He was well known in yachting circles and is joint owner with his brother in the B class keeler Waimea. He represented New Zealand at Sydney during the Centennial Regatta racing in an 31 class boat. He was a member of the Auckland Aero Club and was a keen Rugby player.
