A resident of Norsewood, Mr. Joseph William Metcalfe, aged 43. married, with a family of eight children, while working with a converted lorrv on a farm at Norsewood in the hauling of logs, got. the leg of his trousers caught in a winch and, before assistance could arrive, had his right toot torn off. He died in the Dannevirko Hospital five hours later.
