ROAD REPAIRS INVOLVED (0.C.) PUKEKOHE, Wednesday The change-over from butter to choose production on the part of a good many farmers in Franklin County, to meet war needs, involved the Franklin County Council in deciding on a policy in regard to requests for metalling at milk stands and on short pieces of miinetalled roads to enable milk to be cart-iid to the cheese factories. The council decided to grant requests of this nature, although it was pointed out, the expenditure for this purpose might amount to as much as £IOOO, especially if Iho idle factories at Buckland and Alangutnwhiri were reopened as cheese units. However, it was resolved to ask the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, as owner of the factories concerned, to take up with the (Government the question of meeting part of the cost out of the additional money being obtained by the sale of cheese to tile British (iovernment.
