LECTURE ON SLAVERY

An illustrated lecture on slavery in Africa, with special reference to Abyssinia, was given last night by Lieu-tenant-Colonel E. R. Sawer, 0.8. E., in the Auckland University College Hall as one of the series arranged by the Auckland Institute and Museum. Colonel Sawer displayed a number of lantern slides showing the types of peoples affected and the territories to which they belonged. He traversed the history of the growth of the slave trade and the steps taken to quell it.
