AGREEMENT REACHED

INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES COURT TO MAKE AWARDS A complete agreement in conference between the parties to the Northern district concrete ware workers' dispute was reported to the Arbitration Court yesterday. Mr. J. Purtell appeared for the union and Mr. W. E. Anderson for the employers. The wages agreed to have been largely adopted from the scale of the Wellington award, which provides a different classification and an advance of Id or Jd an hour in several cases as compared with the old Auckland award. The rates range from 2s 5d to 2s BJd an hour. The weekly hours of work stand at 40. The term of the award is one year. The Judge, Mr. Justice Tviidall, said that, subject to the papers being in order, the Court would make the award as agreed. / While the parties were waiting for the Court to resume in tho aftern° on an agreement was reached between them on all matters remaining in dispute in the northern district A. and P. Association, sports body and racecourse employees' award, with the single exception of the term of "the award. From the Conciliation Council several matters, of hours of work and rates of pay had been referred to the Court. Mr. W. E. Anderson appeared for the employers and Mr. W. T. Quealy for the union. 1 Mr. Anderson said it had been agreed that hours of work should follow the old award, which fixed them at not to exceed nine a day. The union's claim for extra pay for work done on holidays had been withdrawn. Several wage increases had been agreed to. All ticket sellers, some of whom had been receiving 25s a day, were to be on a minimum of 27s Cd. the pay for men at the crish turnstile was increased from 21s to 22s 6d, and certain female attendants wore to receive 17s (3d instead of 15s. The employers asked that the award be for two years, and the union asked thftt the term be one year. The Court intimated it would fix the term and make the award as agreed.
