HOCKEY SEASON
DEVONPORT SHIELD GAMES RESULTS OF TWO ROUNDS Two rounds of the Auckland Hockey Association's Devonport Shield competition were decided at Hobson Park on Saturday. The rapidly-drying ground proved deceptive to the players and made concerted play difficult. In Ihe first series Mount Eden secured an unexpected victory over Training College and United forced a four-goal draw with Sonierville. Grammar Old Boys beat Alhertians. scoring the only goal of the match and University had a comfortable win against St. Luke's. In the second series. Mount Eden continued in winning vein and again upset calculations by defeating University, the championship leader. Training College unproved upon its earlier form, and had the better of its match against Grammar Old Hoys. Sonierville and United had close matches against St. Luke's and Albertians respectively, winning in each case by tlic only goal scored. Detailed results were:—• First Series. — Mount Eden, 1 (K.
