AIR FORCE LOSSES
TWO DEATHS REPORTED [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Sunday The following Air Force casualties are announced:— Glengarry, Owen Henry (SKt.), 8.N.Z.A.F., killed in aircraft accident—Mrs. H. T. (Henjrarry, Sawyer's Bay, Otago (mother). Austin, Richard Scott (Pilot-Officer), R.X.Z.A.F., killed on air operations— Mr. K. C. Austin, Pahiatua (father).
RECOVERING FROM WOUNDS FLYTNG CROSS HOLDER (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Sunday Shot down on his 49tli active service flight. Flying-Officer D. 11. Mac Arthur. D.F.C., is now recovering from his wounds in a hospital in the Middle Fast, but hopes to return to New Zealand on furlough in about, three months' time. Writing to relatives in the Whangarei district, Flying-Officer MacArthur said his aeroplane had been shot down in the sea and its five occupants, two of whom were severely wounded, were afloat for 30 hours before rescue. Flying-Officer Mac Arthur won the D.F.C. for the daring manner in which he attacked and brought down an enemy aeroplane on a return flight from Germany in one of Britain's heavy bombers'. He was later transferred to the Middle East. While in England he married, and a son was born two months ago.
