HEAVY RAINFALL
INCH AND HALF IN 10 HOURS Heavy rain, which set in from the north-east at 10 o'clock on Friday night, continued until eight o'clock on Saturday morning, during which time 1.48 in. of rain was recorded in Albert Park. The heaviest shower occurred between 4.45 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday, .32in. being recorded in that time. After reading above and near •']().OOin. for most of the week, the barometer dropped from 30.0 Gin. at mid-day on Friday to 29.43 in. at four o'clock" 1 on Saturday afternoon and did not start to recover until early yesterday morning. The drop during Saturday morning was curiously irregular, a very wavy line being drawn on the barograph. The wind changed to the south early yesterday morning and a line day followed. The barometer reading at midnight last night was 29.97 in.
