RAILWAY REVENUE PERIOD TO JULY 19 £29,491 LESS IN 16 WEEKS (0.C.) WET J,INC TON, Thursday A working profit of £lS,s9;i for the period of four weeks ended July 19, shown by the railway accounts gazetted to-day, compares with a profit of £45,814 for the corresponding period last year. The fall is £27,221. The gross revenue for the four weeks was £782,854, which was £.'i9,365 more than a year ago. Expenses were increased by £60,586 to £7(51,201. The operating account for the North Island shows a revenue of £424,817, an increase of £14,443, and expenses totalling £116,534, or £40.382 more. There was a profit of £781.3, compared with £33,7/32. The receipts of the South Island railways were £248,1 Of*, an increase of £16.785, and expenses were £262,026, or £15,284 higher. There was a working loss of £13,858, compared with a loss of £15.359. The balance of miscellaneous revenue was £24,638, compared with £27,421 in 1940. For the 16 weeks from April 1 to July 19 the net revenue was £420.440, a decrease of £29.491 on that for the similar period last year. The gross revenue was £3,375.563, or £52,013 higher.
