DOOR OF HOPE
WORK AT SALEM HOUSE CARE OF YOUNG GIRLS A gratifying renewal of interest ia the work of the Door of Hope Association was shown at the annual meeting held at Salem House yesterday and presided over by the chairman, Mr. W. R. Wilson. During the year donations had increased by £2lO over the previous year, .Mr. Wilson said, and the- committee greatly appreciated the generosity of interested friends who had given gifts and their services. The wonderful result? achieved through Christian influence and training among the young girl.' at Salem House was stressed by Mr. \\ilson. who said the work of building Christian character in the lives of the girls was often a long one. The home '.vas a happy centre of Christian lite and activity and it was pleasing to report that a Sunday school, with an attendance of 75 young people, was being conducted. A tribute to .Mrs. .loan Graham, the matron, and her sister, .Miss C. Lanauze, and the staff, for their work during the year, and to many friends who had 'extended practical support, was paid by .Mr. Wilson. The annual balance-sheet showed that after providing £IBO for depreciation the excess of expenditure over income for the vear amounted to £147. Following the meeting an address on the founding and work of the association was given by Mr. \ ictor Macky.
