POLICE RETIREMENTS
SUPERINTENDENT S. RAWL.E The pending retirement has been announced of two senior police officers whose careers have included terms on the Auckland station. They are .Mr. S. llawle, superintendent at Christchurch, who will retire on October 10. and Inspector T. Gibson, of Invercargill, who will retire this month.
Superintendent Pawle, who joined the police force at Dunedin in 1900, was appointed to Auckland as senior sergeant in 1921, being promoted to the rank of sub-inspector in 1924. Jwo years later he was promoted to inspector, and was transferred to Wellington. Alter several transfers he was promoted to superintendent at Dunedin in 19.'56, and was appointed to his present post 'two and a-half years ago. His successor has not yet been appointed. _ Inspector Gibson joined the police force at Christchurch in 1902. He was appointed sub-inspector in charge of the detective branch at Auckland in 1930 and was in this position for nearly throe years until his transfer to Invercargill oh promotion to inspector.
