BURNED TO DEATH

ELDERLY WOMAN'S FATE SISTER SENT TO HOSPITAL [BY TKLEORAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Friday The tragic death of Mrs. M. Walker, aged 82, was the outcome of a fire in a wooden house at St. Clair last night. Mrs. Walker occupied the house with her sister, Mrs. E. Mclntyre, aged 69. At midnight Mrs. Mclntyre was aroused by a cat, and on investigating found the back of the house on fire. A passer-by assisted Mrs. Mclntyre to a neighbour's house, but it was too late to save her sister. Mrs. Walker, who was very frail, had been warned by Mrs. Mclntyre, but waa apparently overcome by smoke and heat. Her body was found on a bed by firemen. Mrs. Mclntyre was taken to hospital suffering from shock and slight burns.
