PILLAGING OF CARGO

What was described as a most flagrant example of the pillaging of cargo has been reported to a Timaru shipping firm from Dunedin. A case of tobacco consigned to Timaru was recently unloaded at Dunedin and was placed in store pending reshipnient. When attention was drawn to the fact that it had been pillaged the case was immediately placed tinder lock and key. An inspection revealed that six packets, each containing 20 2qz. tins of tobacco, and one packet of eight 2oz. tins, a total of 123 tins, had been taken.
