FINE OF £5 IMPOSED That he shot at a sitting hare from his motor-truck and did not see or shoot at a pheasant, which was later found dying in the paddock, was the statement made in the Police Court yesterday by .1. Bolton, who pleaded not guilty to a charge ot taking and killing imported game during the close season at Point England on April 14. .Mr. Jenkins prosecuted lor tile Auckland Acclimatisation Society. and Mr. Urquhart appeared for defendant. Several witnesses said they saw defendant in his motor-truck. A shot: was fired, and a pheasant fluttered up and fell. The truck drove away. The pheasant was picked up by a witness, hut died 15 minutes later. Defendant ami a companion in his truck gave evidence that the shot was fired at a hare, but missed. Defendant was fined £".5.
