FIRST DIVISION ENROLMENT "Defendant failed to enrol until March 17. 1941." said Senior-Sergeant Joyce, when Cedric Richard Zinsli (Mr. Hall Skclton). was charged in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., with failing to enrol as required in the first, division of the General Reserve. Defendant pleaded guilty. Counsel said defendant was born in New Zealand, his father having been a Swiss. He did not know he had to register, but thought he would get a notice from the department saying he was called up. On selling his farm at Karaka and coming to the city, defendant found that he should have onrolled, and did so. Defendant was ordered to pay costs. TWO HAMILTON CASES COURT IMPOSES FINES (0.C.) Hamilton, had informed him that, as long as ho was registered under the Social Security Act, he was enrolled in the general reservo, was given h\ Leslie James Pollock, farm hand, Te Kowhai (Mr. J. R. FitzGerald), when he was prosecuted in the Hamilton Police Court to-day for failing to enrol. Mr. W.'H. Freeman. S.M.. said 90 per cent of those eligible had enrolled and 1 per cent now came forward and said they were given wrong impressions. Defendant was fined £2 10s and costs.

William Bernard Thompson admitted a similar offence and was fined £5. He said that, because he was the father of a child, lie-did not think he was eligible to enrol. Luxford. SM.. to one month in prison. A plea that a form had been filled in and posted was not accepted, the magistrate saying defendant should have taken speedier steps to obtain a certificate of enrolment.
