WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY
AGRICULTURAL TRAINING The orcharding and gardening section of the Women's War Service Auxiliary is steadily growing in numbers and enthusiasm. Outdoor seasonal demonstrations taken by .Mr. C. L. Gillies at the Teachers' Training College on preparation of the soil, transplanting and propagation by cutting Mini other methods have been completed. The next series of outdoor demonstrations will take up the subject of pruning and plant diseases. Held under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture, they wdl bo taken by Mr. A. T. .Douglas and other officers of the department.. The iirst demonstration and practice *vill take place to-morrow afternoon at the orchard of Mr. Hume, i)t> liiverdale Uoad, Avondale. Outdoor demonstrations are being supplemented by indoor lectures on alternate Monday evenings in the Seddon Memorial Technical College. The lirst two lectures have been given by Miss O. Adams on the sl.ruoture of lilants and how tliev feed. These are to be. followed by lectures on fertilisers and their uses by Mr. I>. M. Davis, of the Seddon Memorial Technical College.
