TEAMS CHASING RICHMOND MANUKAU TO MEET NEWTON The defeat of Richmond Inst Saturday has heightened interest in the Auckland Kugby League senior championship, as several teams are now within striking distance of the leaders. The draw for to-morrow has brought strong teams into opposition, and the series should arouse considerable interest among followers of the code. An excellent attraction should be provided by Manukati and Newton in the principal contest on Xo. 1 ground at three o'clock. The Maori side has been showing splendid form in recent matches II- forwards make the most of their weight :u the liuht and reveal speed and clever handling in the loose, while the backs are noted for the cleverness of their methods. N'ewton, which faces a difficult task, is expected to rise to the occasion, and should offer good opposition both 111 Iho forwards and the backs. A fast and aitracfive display should result in the meeting ol I'onsonh.v and City in the curtain-raiser, starling at 1.15 o'clock City's forwards should offset any advantage carried by the I'onsonh.v rearguard. Richmond and Mount Albert will meet in the main fixture on Xo. ground, the odds favouring the former, while North Shore should also account for I'apakura at the Kllerslie Domain.
