DRIVING IN BLACKOUT

EYE AND NERVE STRAIN A special meeting of bus and servieecar drivers has been called for Sunday morning to discuss tho effect of the motor vehicle lighting restrictions, according to tho secretary of the Auckland Drivers' Union, Mr. L. G. Matthews. Ho said yesterday that it had been decided to call the meeting as a result of numerous requests. Mr. Matthews said that in the interests of public safety, drivers of passenger vehicles proposed seriously to consider the abolition of night driving. He explained that drivors were already complaining of the increased strain on their eyes and nerves imposed by present restrictions, and other regulations about to become operative would create a still greater strain.
