SOCCER GAME

MATCH WITH WELLINGTON CONDUCT AT NORTH SHORE The high standard of piny b.v junior member-. who have been promoted to take the places of the first division player? who have joined the forces, was the Rubjert of very favourable comment by Mr. F. 11. Baker, chairman of the control board of the Auckland 'Football Association, at its meeting last evening. The even nature and thrilling exchanges which had marked the matches played so far augured well for a successful season. Jn connection with the representative match against Wellington, the New Zealand Referees' Association advised that Mr. J. Huston had been appointed referee. A protest by Metro-College in regard to its first division match at Devonport last Saturday against North Shore allpgrd interference by spectators and also stated that the referee had played extra time. The club sought a replay of the game. A letter was also received from the North Shore club alleging unseemly conduct by the Metro-Col-lege supporters and players toward the North Shore linesman, the referee and North Shore officials. As the protest from the MetroCollege club had not been received in the time specified by the rules, and as no notification had been given to the North Shore club or the Referees' Association, the chairman ruled it out of order. Three members of the North Shore club were present in support of the club's letter, but it. was agreed that it would be unfair to discuss tiie matter without giving Metro-College an opportunity to air its views, and the question was; referred to the judicial committee. The junior management committee suggested that the board should consider staging a representative day similar to that of last season. It was agreed to refer the reauost to the fixtures committee for favourable consideration. The playing by North Shore of a player wtio it was stated came under the ruling regarding Navy players was discussed, and it was decided to ask the club for an explanation as to why permission had not been sought for its action.
