DAY OF PRAYER

SERVICES FOR WOMEN

All day yesterday women knelt in prayer for relatives and friends servina overseas, a day of prayer for women being observed at St. Matthew's Church under the auspices of the Mothers' Union of the Auckland diocese. Services and intercessions were held at frequent intervals, arid the church was thronged throughout the day. Special prayers were said with reference to present afflictions, for tho bereaved, for those who had lost their lives in tho war, and for a just and abiding peace. Services were conducted by the Bishop of Auckland, Bishop Simkin. the vicar of St. Matthew's, Canon R. G. Coats. Canon C. A. B. Watson, Canon W. E. Lush and tho Rev. 11. B. Davison.
