HIGHWAYS ESTIMATES
MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL A decision to apply for Government grants for main highways maintenance and a small amount of reconstruction was reached at a mooting of the Manukau County Council yesterday. The estimate for main highways totalled CI 1.7-1-1, the council's proportion being L'-'Sr.IS and the Main Highways Hoard subsidy, £10.5)7(3. Of the subsidy applied for, CIO.SOO is lor maintenance and CJ<i7 for renewals. Last year the total subsidy applied for was £18,783. Ksiimatos for bridges and culverting totalled £N2II, of which the Govern" inent would be asked to find £5171. The Government grant requested for reading was WOOD of the total estimate of £llOO.
