Mending Cracked China j "Anon" (Kiapara)— Boil the cracked | china article in skim milk, when if will ; become sound again. Put the article in ' the milk when cold and bring slowly 1 to the boil. Allow to boil very gently ' for about 10 minutes. Before putting I the article in the milk tie it round with i tape over the cracked part. The china I should be usable once more, but with | care, and it is inadvisable to use it for any boiling liquid. Tea would he all right so long as it is not boiling hot. Tree Tomato Jam "Janet" (Auckland) has sent the I following recipe.—'lib. ripe but firm | tree tomatoes; 41b. sugar. I'eel and cut tomatoes overnight and sprinkle with IniH' the sugar next morning. .Boil for about 20 minutes and add rest, of sugar. Boil until it. sets. Pour boiling water on the tomatoes to remove the skins and then cut in halves. Apples could be added to this jam if desired. Peel, core and stew 21b. of apples with 141 b. of sugar and add to the tree tomato jam as it is cooking.
