WEDDING AT EPSOM

BRIDE IN GREEN ANGORA

The wedding took place quietly on Saturday at noon at the Presbyterian Church, Epsom, of Miss Kathleen Margaret Peacock, eldest daughter of Mrs. K. (!. Peacock. Crescent Road, Epsom, formerly of Masterton, and the late Mr. H. M. Peacock, and Dr. Howard Gaudiu, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Gaudiu, Owen's Road, Epsom. The Rev. 1). J. Shaw officiated. The bride, who was given a way by Mr. W. il. Cocker, wore a charming frock of woodland green Angora wool with a corsage spray of orchids, and a tan hat and accessories. Attending the brido was her sister, Miss Anne Peacock, who wore a russet-brown frock with autumn-toned embroidery, and a matching hat. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. John A. Gaudiu, as best man. Following the ceremony a luncheon was held at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. Peacock received her guests wearing a winebcrry wool suit with stone-marten furs pinned with a spray of orchids, and a matching felt hat. Mrs. Gaudiu, the bridegroom's mother, wore a powder blue and black ensemble, with an orchid spray, and a silver fox fur, hat and purse. Relatives of the brido and bridegroom present included Miss Peacock, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Del le Van's. Mr. and Mrs. John de Marr, Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Brown, Mr. and Mrs. S. Coutis, Mrs. R. S. P. Maris, and Miss Robina Gaudiu. WED IN SCHOOL CHAPEL M O RTENS EN—KYLE King's School Chapel, Remuera, was the scene of the wedding on Saturday evening of Miss Shirley Joan Kvle, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Kyle, of Alpers Avenue, Epsom, and Mr. Olaf Peter Douglas Mortensen, second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Mortensen, of Remuera. Dean Fancourt ofliciated, and a solo was sung by Mrs. Mina Frater.

The bride, who was given away by her lather, wore a lovely frock of ivory brocaded taffeta with a, tight-fitting pointed bodice, shirred puff sleeves and a very full skirt fashioned to form :i long train. Her tulle veil, which was worn over her face as slie entered the church, was caught to the head with a top-knot of chiffon lilies, and she; carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and white heather. Attending the bride were her'sister. Mrs. Robert Pope, and Miss Both Wilkin, who wore frocks of lettuce green brocade with full skirts shirred on to pointed waistlines. They carried cascade bouquets of pink sweet peas, lupins and rosebuds and wore the same flowers in their hair. Bombardier Frances Mortensen attended his brother as best man and Mr. Lan Eastgate was groomsman. Messrs. S Ferguson, R. Pope and lan Hay were ushers.

A reception was later held at the homo of the bride's parents, where Mrs. Kylo received her guests in a smart draped gown of deep vintage velvet embossed in gold in a rose design. A gold turban and a fur cape were also worn and she carried a bouquet of pansies and violets. Mrs. Mortensen was in a beige frock with brown tonings. a broivn toque and skunk wrap. She carried an autumn-tinted bouquet. CATHEDRAL CEREMONY PORTER—WRIGHT The marriage of Miss Jean Laurie Wright, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Laurie Wright, of Auckland, to Mr. Edgar Russell Porter, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Nello Porter, Victoria Avenue, Remuera. took place on Saturday evening at St. Mary's Cathedral. Dean Fancourt officiated* and Mr. Edgar Randal was the organist. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Sergeant B. Wright. Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, wore a. gown of magnolia satin inset with lace taken from her mother's

wedding gown. From her shoulders fell a train, also part of her mother's wedding frock, vandyked with guipure lace, while a laco halo caught to the head her tulle veil. The bride carried a ring bouquet of orchids. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss .Joyce Blewett, cousin of the bride, anil Miss Marion Laurie, who wore frocks of glazed parchment with a chintz flora 1 design. Sprays of pink carnations were worn in their hair and ring bouquets of the same (lowers were carried. Mr. Rolf Porter attended his brother as best man and Sergeant I). Somerville was groomsman. The ushers were Sergeant Randal Jordan and Mr. Fenton Heald. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Cornwall Park kiosk, where Mr. and Mrs. IT. F. 0. Twigden received the guests, the latter wearing black patterned satin and carrying a posy of cyclamen and sweet peas. Mrs. Porter was in black and white striped moss crepe and carried a bouquet of red roses.
