INTERCESSION SERVICES
Sir, —I would like to register my approval of the action taken by the Anglican clergy in holding aloof from the citizens' intercessory services. Aucklanders are developing a most deplorable habit of rushing off to the Town Hall on all occasions. It is a dangerous habit, because the holding of an occasional service does not constitute prayer. Prayer is not talking "at" God —prayer is an attitude of life. Like all other things in this world, it is an attitude which can only be acquired by long practice. Surely there is no better place to practise this way of life than in the parish church and under the guidance of the spiritual pastor. It is the duty of the clergy to lead their flocks, and I for one am glad to see them take this stand. In conclusion, I would like to remind "Anglican" that he will find intercessory services every day in most Anglican churches. Paul.
