AIR FORCE LOSSES TWO SERGEANTS MISSING BOTH MEN FROM AUCKLAND Advice that their only son, Sergeant John David Campbell Long, was reported missing on air operations has been received by Mr. and Mrs. I). M. Long, of I llto New North Road, Mount Albert. Sergeant Long, who is 21, was born at Sawyer's Bay, near Port Chalmers, in Otago. He was educated at the Owairaka primary school and the Mount Albert Grammar School.
Before enlisting he was employed at the Otahuhu railway workshops and was a member of the Avondale Rugby League Club, playing in the third grade team. He received his preliminary training at the Levin and Oliakea Royal New Zealand Air Force stations and left for England on April 26, 1940.
It was announced from Wellington yesterday that Sergeant John Roland Fry was missing on air operations. His father is Mr. R. E. Fry, of Auckland.
