HOME DEFENCE

FEW MARRIED VOLUNTEERS _ Although it is more than six weeks since the Government announced that certain classes of married men could volunteer for service with the_ Territorial Force, the response in the Northern Military District lifts beon negligible. No more than about 30 havs enlisted in the Auckland area.

Those being accepted are married men between 19 and 4o with not more than three dependents under 16. They must reach grade 2 or higher in the medical examination, thus becoming lit tor either home defence or overseas service, although their enlistment does not mean that they thereby beconio available for despatch overseas.
