THE LEAGUE CODE
SENIOR COMPETITION THREE GAMES ON SATURDAY OTHER TEAMS AWARDED BYES n In view of the fact that only one senior competition match was played last Saturday, the Auckland Rugby League decided last evening to equalise the running of the fixtures by giving three clubs byes this Saturday The chairman said the clubs concerned were consulted on the question and after next Saturday the senior competition would carry on with the normal draw. Three club matches, therefore, will be played this week, while Richmond. Marist and North Shore will have byes. Arising out of the action of a senior player in refusing to leavo the ground when injured recently, it was decided that, where a player is injured, he must bo removed to the sideline and there examined by St. John Ambulance members. The instructions of the referee in cases of injury must be obeyed. When a idayer is considered fit to return to the field, he must first notify the referee of such intention. The necessity of having all senior teams correctly numbered was emphasised In a letter sent to all clubs appealing for closer co-operation in this matter. Where alterations were found necessary at the last minute, it was agreed to convey the information to patrons over the loud-speaker. The sudden death at Rotorua of Mr. F. (Rangi) Hayward was notified. He was at. one time caretaker of Oarlaw Park. The committee members passed a resolution of sympathy and stood in silence.
