Hohbs-Jones. a member of the Dcvonport Borough Council, who had intended to contest the | Mayoralty of the borough, has an- j nounced that he will not do so, but j will seek re-election to the council, and j will also stand for one of the Devon- | I port seats on the Waitemata Electric- [ | Power Board. Mr. J. Guiniven. Mayor of Taka- I puna, has decided to seek re-election to j the Waitemata Flectric-Power Board j and to stand for the Auckland Hospital j Board. In response to a request by the Taka- j puna Citizens' Progressive Association, Mr. K. L. Usmar has decided to contest the North Shore seat on the Auckland Hospital Board. Nominations for the City Council, borough councils and related bodies will close at noon on Monday. Pukekohe. —Two candidates are announced for the Mayoralty of Pukekohe. They are the retiring l Mayor, Mr. John Routlv, and Mr. A F. Brown, who has been a member of the Borough Council during the last 15 years. Requests to stand have also been made to Nlr. W. J. Short, a former member of the council, but so far he has not announced his decision. Huntlv. —In response to a request from a number of electors in the Htintly Borough Mr. G. Smith has decided to contest the Mayoral election. For the past 15 years Mr. Smith has been a member of the Waikato County Council, for 1."5 years a member of the Waikato Hospital Hoard, and 12 yearon the Raglan County Council and Central Waikato Fleet l ie-Power Board.
