The statement that about a dozen men were concerned in the 40 arrests fnr drunkenness since the beginning of the year among men at the Karapiro hvdro-electric works was made by an officer of the Public Works Department in replv to remarks by the police at. a sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Cambridge. About 300 men were employed at EJarapiro. lie said, and generally they were a fine class. However, it had been found that a small number of undesirables had secured employment. Most of these had now been weeded out and the process was being continued. 7
