SHOOTING SEASON
KING COUNTRY PROSPECTS TR KUJTI, Thursday There are good prospects for the shooting season in the Northern King Country. Pheasants are numerous where there is a moderate amount of cover, while quail, although rather scarce in open country, are reported to bo in good numbers on Ipss developed lands. The prospects for .duck are determined by the weather, and drier conditions than are usual at this time of the year may mitigate against good bags on opening day. WAIKATO AREA CONDITIONS FAVOUR A RLE (0.c.) HAMILTON, Thursday Prospects in the Waikato for the shooting season, which opens an hour bejore sunrise on Saturday, are bright, said Air. A. A. Mel ioan. secretary of the Hamilton Acclimatisation Club. Conditions at present are ideal for pheasants and quail, hut unless rain falls before the opening successful duck shooting will be difficult. The season for pheasants and quail will end 011 June 30, while the season for duck, swan and pukeko will conclude on May 18. TWO ROTORUA LAKES AREAS NOT SANCTUARIES A correction of the belief tbat Lake Rotoknua and Lake Roto-Airn are sanctuaries was made by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E.
