CUNNINGHAM'S COMET

OBSERVATION IN SYDNEY (Received February 2, 5.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 1 The discovery of another comet is announced by Father O Council, director of Riverview Observatory, near Sydney, who photographed it in the south-east sky at dawn this morning. Father O'Connell claims it to be Cunningham's Comet, which was originally discovered by Dr. Cunningham, of liaryard University. Cunningham's Comet was located in !\ew Zealand on January 27 by a Hawera astronomer, Mr. Townsend. Apparently some confusion exists in Australia. .is the comet just located at Riverviow Observatory was detected more than a week ago in Victoria, where Mr. Baldwin, tho Government astronomer, described it in tho Melbourne press at the time as a disappointing object not coming up to previous expectations.
