NATIONALIST DISUNITY (Received January 81, 5.30 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Jan. 30 Three days of parleying terminated in 10 of General. Hertzog's supporters in the Assembly arid three Senators leaving the Nationalist Party. They issued a manifesto beginning: "Unity is dead. Inwardly the party is sizzling for a second eruption." The manifesto disclosed that Dr. D. F. Malan, leader of the other Nationalist group, objected to the expression of the hope that General Hertzog's services would still he available to the country. It assured English-speaking people that the principle of racial equality would be maintained. Issue of the manifesto follows the resignation of the former Minister of Defence. 3lr. 0. Pirow and another Nationalist from the committee invests gating General Hertzog's charges of disloyalty within the ranks. The fate of the new Afrikander Party will depend.on the forthcoming elections for the seats formerly held by General Hertzog and Mr. N. C. Havenga. Following their split with the Nationalist Party, General Hertzog and Mr. Havenga resigned, from Parliament in December, declaring that lack of confidence in them had been revealed. Followers of General Hertzog recently decided to form an .Afrikander Partv based on General Hertzog s policy of racial equality and neutrality.
