Faded Signs The condition of the railway level crossing signs on the main highway between Paeroa and Te Aroha lias been reported to the authorities by the Automobile Association. The signs are stated to be failed and indistinct and therefore fail to attract the attention of motorists approaching the level crossings. Whangarei Resorts Highways giving access from Whangarei to the many delightful beaches on the heads and coastal routes are reported to have developed roughness through the maintenance' being inadequate to cater with the volume of holiday traffic. Representations have been made by the Automobile Association on behalf of local residents, who on account of the limitations imposed by petrol restrictions, are dependent on local resorts for relaxation. New Stock Route By the construction of a new road in the \gatea district. stock travelling from the Hauraki Plains toward Pokeno will he saved a considerable mileage. Highway travellers between Paeroa and Auckland will also benefit, as the lieuroute will keep through stock traffic away from the main highway for a distance of 11 miles.
