Greedy Grunty
Original, hy ERICA BRODIE (14) r JHHE sun was shining brightly into tlio pigsty where five little pigs were being fed. Their names were Spotty, Pinky, Blackie, Brownie and Grunty. Pinky was the best behaved and Grunty was the naughtiest. He always ran over to the trough in which their food was, to be there first and have the best food. Unlike ordinary pigs, Grunty hated sour milk. At the time Grunty was grumbling because Mr. Sommet, who fed them,
"GRUNTY WAS VERY UNHAPPY" —Copied s-ketch by Mary King (14). had only left sour milk. He became rather jealous at seeing the other pigs having their share of milk. He thought they ought to leave him all tho vegetables. When Pinky started eating them he chased him round the sty. He walked over to the turnips and ate some. As soon as any of his brothers came near ho would grunt and chase them away, so that all the other pigs had was sour milk. Mr. Sommet was watching over the gate and thought, "I'll fix that greedv pig." He opened the gate and put all tho pigs excopt Grunty into another sty. He gave Spotty, Pinky, Blackie and Brownie some more vegetables and sour milk. The next day Mr. Sommet only gate Grunty sour milk. The poor pig became very unhappy and lay down in a corner, wishing ho had not been bo selfish. The same thing happened for tho next two (lays. Grunty thought he would rather drink sour milk than starve. He was surprised to find that ho quite liked it and looked about for more. When Mr. Sommet saw that Grunty drank his milk he put him in with his brothers. Tho sad pig was never greedy again, but always let the others have the fresh milk and vegetables first.
