LISBON AIRPORT COMMERCIAL PILOTS MEET MEN OF WARRING NATIONS Commercial aircraft of six nations, three of which are engaged in different fronts of the war, leaving almost dailv trom Lisbon, now the foremost international air junction in the world, for London, Home. Berlin. Madrid. Tangier, and weekly for Now York, give rise to one of the strangest, paradoxes of the war. British, German, .Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and American air crews still meet regularly in the Portuguese capital, and no unpleasant incidents at the frequent encounters in hotels and at dining tables have been reported. Ihe British Overseas Airways maintains a service of five trips a week from Lisbon to London, and the Deutsche Lufthansa aeroplanes leave daily for Madrid, Barcelona, Marseilles. Lyons, Stuttgart and Berlin, a route which takes a day and a night to cover. The Italian company, Ala Littoria, has aeroplanes leaving every day except Sunday lor Madrid. Barcelona and Rome. The Spanish Saeta service leaves Lisbon thrice weekly for Madrid and Barcelona, and the Portuguese have a twice-weekly service to Tangier. Every week the Atlantic dippers of Pan American Airways alight at Lisbon from New York with mail and passengers to connect with all the other air services which operate from Lisbon. I'he French service. Air France, has been suspended.
