WOMAN'S COSTLY ERROR MISTAKEN FOR TEN SHILLINGS ("11 V TEI.EGU AI'H PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Friday For the second time in a fortnight in Htwke's Bay a £SO note has been tendered in mistake for a ten shilling note. Through the similarity of the two notes a woman from the Waipawa district who was shopping in Waipukurau yesterday afternoon passed a £SO note over the counter in payment for goods, thinking it to be a 10s note. When she discovered her mistake later she made inquiries throughout the town, but. failed to locate the note. A businessman remembered receiving the note from the woman and remembered giving a note out in change to someone else, but he could not be certain whether it was the missing note or not. Inquiries are being made by the police. Another recent occurrence of a similar nature was _ reported from during the holidays.
