MAINTENANCE ORDERS
CROWN SERVANTS' WAGES [by telegraph — PRESS association] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Destitute Persons Act, 1910, provided for the attachment of wages to help enforce maintenance orders, but did not bind the Crown. In 1939, however the Domestic Proceedings Act was passed providing that tho GovernorGeneral might issue an Order-in-Couneil making the attachment of wages apply also to employees of the Crown. ~ , i This Order-in-Counei! was gazetted to-night under the title of the Destitute Persons (Crown Servants) Attachment Order, 1940. It is pointed out that it applies only to maintenance monevs payable under the Destitute Persons Act and not to ordinary debt®.
