RESERVE BANK VACANCY
THE POSITION OF GOVERNOR [by telegraph —press association] \VELLINGTON, Thursday Machinery clauses covering the filling of the gap in the administration of the Reserve Bank until the appointment of a new governor are set out in the "Reserve Bank Kmergency Regulations, 1940. gazetted to-night. The regulations provide that an actinggovernor may be appointed if a vacancy arises in the office of governor and an actingtdeputy : governor may be appointed in similar circumstances. .iP* pointees will have the powers of tha governor and deputy-governor respectively while so acting. Such appointments will be for a term of threa months, but provision is made for reappointments. The regulations also state that the deputy-governor can exercise the powers of the governor if a vacancy occurs in the office of governor. The deputy-governor, Mr. . I'. "Ward, thus automatically exercises the power of the governor.
